Plush, Dorset
The other day we bought a book on Dorset Walks, I liked the pictures, poppy fields were on the front! BIG MISTAKE!!
This is us on one of those walks!
We started off at the Brace of Pheasants ( having had a pub lunch there, very low ceilings and dark we sat in the table right inside an old inglenook fireplace)
We read the instructions from the book and then left it in the car! another mistake!! It was around 2pm and a sunny day, the first part was UP (not keen on ups!) a stoney track and on to the top of the above ridgeway (opposite horizon, hill) the view was stunning you can see for miles in all directions, we did deviate a little lot on the way, ending up walking through a big wood ( the wrong one!) but eventually hit the right trail again. Along the Wessex Ridgeway, down to the valley floor ( the pub down the road, tempting!) on UP the bridle path to the next ridge, turned left not right :-( on on on up! Awesome views:-) heading the right way now sort of ( blip photo) along the ridge and into a stubble field we knew we should be on the other side of the wood so we hoped over a wire fence and got back on track, down, along, up, only to discover the trail went back up to the stubble field we had just left!aaaah. My legs hurt now! Amazing views :-) on on DOWN yes! Back to car phew, fantastic. next time will read and digest!
About 5.30 now.
Called in to see dad on the way home.
This morning we fetched him from hospital, he was sore but chirpy. Glad to be back home.
This evening we are off to "The White Horse" for a meal with friends, put back any calories lost.
Great day.
