Civic duty

Today, I was at the Edinburgh Sheriff Court doing my civic duty, having been cited for jury service. Having being sat for a number of hours doing nothing, the clerk of the court came and told us (about 50 of us) that we were not required today or tomorrow, but that we would have to check tomorrow after 5pm to see if we were required for Wednesday.

A lot of people's lives disrupted for nothing, a total waste of time, but I suppose it has to be done.

Anyway, after this, I headed over to Newton Mearns to see my mum and brother who arrived from Xi'an in China for three weeks.

All in all a frustrating day... but nice to see my mum and brother.
