Piano passion
Back in Lagrasse for more En Blanc et Noir. The lunchtime concert was by young Russian Anna Geniushene, playing Bach/Busoni, Haydn, Schumann, and a very showy Prokofiev sonata (blip). She was very talented, but I have to say she was left in the shade by this evening's pianist, Edouard Ferlet. Last seen just about a year ago, here. This time he was playing solo, his own dazzling improvisations on themes from Bach, reworked, reimagined, and virtuosically performed. At the end, after the standing ovation and the three encores, ex-piano teacher T leapt up and rushed to be first in the queue to buy one of his CDs. Sample here. And an interview with musical interludes here.
