Hubby has been working in this garden ever since we signed the papers on 03 April.  It was a jungle, literally.  The two previous owners, and we're talking more than 25 years here, did absolutely nothing.  Perhaps because there was/is no faucet in the backyard (although there are many ways to improvise on that problem), maybe because it just wasn't their thing, maybe both, but you'll never believe the archaeological finds hubby has managed to dig up and out -- toys, garden tools, prehistoric tree roots, garden tiles still more than good enough to recycle, a short brick wall, and so on.  Now, the grape vine shoots are in place, and so are the roses, strawberries, weed (yes, that one), and compost heap are all in place, and there's a little wooden cabinet not visible here where he keeps his own tools.  He has covered it with garbage bin plastic so that it won't rot right away (it's made up of old shelves from the old house which we inherited when we bought that house), but it will be replaced one day when we buy a proper garden shed, the type you can play house with ... haha!  Every week, our green-waste bin is filled to the top, and the municipality green-waste disposal service has already dropped by, too, on our request, to pick up a 1.5-meter tall pile hubby stacked up because it was just too much for the weekly bin service.

This is hubby's kingdom and he loves it.  His back hurts him a lot and his shoulders and arms, too, so he rests very often.  He uses his axe a lot to chop away stubborn arm-thick roots, but his favourite is the Philippine bolo, a machete, we bought some six years ago.  You might wonder how we brought it in; well, wrapped thickly and put in the check-in luggage.  It has done a marvelous job and will definitely be kept under lock and key inside the house while we're away.  Eventually, hubby would like a peach tree and apricot tree like we had back there, and now there's enough space for an apple tree and pear tree as well, and of course, I look forward to the first tulips and hopefully some lavender, too.

As for me, a post-schoolyear lazy day, although with some laundry and ironing thrown in between, as well as the daily dishes.
