Hiding From the Heat

People here have their main meal at lunchtime - we're still adjusting, but really, not much sense in doing outdoor work when the temperatures are over 40 degrees (104 F and above for American readers), so you might as well sit inside in the cool, eating and drinking, laughing and talking.

Last meal with the padre for a bit, as he's off to Croatia for a week, on a tour he's organised for his parishioners. Ate grilled river fish, drowned in olive oil, garlic and coriander, at the usual place, Sr Zé's Chaminé, together with Sr Teixeira, who wants to show us his house tomorrow, and then we'll take him to see ours... will be quite a contrast, I imagine - he's not a poor man.

Naps are another good idea, which we've had, and now off to the shops in Évora for more building supplies, also a good idea, as both the car and the shops are air conditioned.
