Here there and everywhere

A Day with my Brother Busboy

Another very nice day in Fife and another day when we were lucky with the weather.

Bb left for Largs this morning after breakfast - and what a lovely breakfast it was too at our usual bed and breakfast place in Kirkcaldy!

Between Bb leaving and my brother busboy arriving (about 30’) I managed to somehow acquire two new pairs of Clarks’ shoes….both in the sales luckily!

Another visit to my niece’s followed and although Hannah (see yesterday’s blip) was sleeping like an angel when we arrived, Sarah and Martin said they’d had a very unsettled night with her.  They spoke too soon yesterday!

No visit to my hometown’s complete without a walk along the High Street to see what’s new and what’s closed down and maybe it was because the sun was shining, but it didn’t look too bad.

My brother’s allotment was next on our list and the first time I’d seen it.  What a treasure of a place, beautifully kept and enclosed within beautiful walls. When you open the big gate and walk inside it’s a true escape from the hurly burly of the world.  We sat and enjoyed the fresh air and sun and had a coffee and sandwich.  Dessert was strawberries straight from his allotment.  While we were there a neighbouring gardener handed him over a flowering plant which is meant to keep some insect or other away from carrots and a few turnips to plant.  Nice!

Then we went on a wee run in the car to Cupar as I like to see the charity shops there, then back to Kirkcaldy to visit the square where our late dad lived.  Good to see that his tree was looking very healthy and the little plaque was still in place.   Another wee seat in that square and we talked of how happy dad was there for the last few years of his life.

A close contender to the fish and chips in Crail last night was the steak pie we had for dinner tonight in Kirkcaldy before another run in the car along to Burntisland.  Now settled in the bed and breakfast where busboy’s also staying the night.  10.20pm and it’s still quite light!   It’s a bit like when we were kids and shared a bedroom and didn’t think it was fair to be going to bed when it was still light outside!
