Out of work Weathercock

This was the original weathercock on the spire of Chichester Cathedral in 1638. It was taken down and replaced by a more modern one in 1978. The indentations on the tail were apparently due to machine gun bullets fired by a German plane during Battle of Britain. So wet and windy on my visit to Chichester even the weather came in for shelter.
