St Mawes
This morning we drove down to St Mawes on the river Fal to visit the castle. The castle is in a kind of trefoil shape, which was a bit different. It was very interesting, Mum had an audio guide, while me & Dad used a book that we were given.
After the castle, we walked down the hill and along the wall above the river into the town. St Mawes is mostly situated in a line very close to the water, with houses also going back up the hill away from the Fal. It was a very hot day, so we went into the local church to rest in the shade. Apparently Saint Mawes, who the town is named after, is also associated with Brittany. Then we went home for lunch, and decided to go for a walk, so we drove to Malpas, which is further up the river Fal than St Mawes. From there we walked along to St Clement, although at one point we took a wrong turning, but that just meant we did the more boring part of the loop (through fields) first, so it was fine. On the second part going through some woods next to the river, we saw some strange shield bugs that we'd never seen before.
