Mono Mountains

I am reminded of the countless framed monochrome photographs which used to adorn NSW passenger carriages in the steam trains of my youth. Many of them must have been depicting the Blue Mountains, I suppose. When I look at those scruffy eucalypts I start to wonder where else in the world a scene like this could possibly be found - other than in Australia.
