Les Luker

This is the charming welcoming smile from Security Guard Les Luker at the entrance desk of Bristol City Hall (aforetime known as the Council House).   Between checking people in and out today Les told me a little about his life and previous employment and despite being in constant demand from left,  right and center, he remained unflustered.  I asked whether he had been trained to tackle someone physically and he was confident that he had the skills.  Today these had been called into use with a heckler who was standing outside the entrance verbally and aggressively abusing councillors who were feeling intimidated and he'd had to call for police back-up.  If the man had been doing it from the College Green a few yards away Les would not have been able to have any authority to have him removed as it isn't council property. Les gave me permission to use his picture to put in  the Blip Community's current challenge of photographing municipal workers. I thank him for that and his generous time too.
