Pheasant & Chick

Continuing the theme I seem to be following of late of mothers and babies, this blip is of hen pheasant and her chick rooting about under the bird feeder. The mother and cock pheasant have been around in the garden for a couple of months much to my wife's chagrin as the cock makes a hell of a noise early in the morning. They also spend time in the paddock behind us and I suspect the nest was somewhere in the undergrowth there. The chick appeared a couple of weeks ago and mother and child are frequently to be seen around our bird feeder. My wife was concerned a couple of days ago because the cock pheasant was making a tremendous racket in the garden during the day and she feared that the mother and child had been caught by a predator. However, there they were this morning as large as life under the bird feeder.
