I returned to Dundee today to catch the inaugural address of a dear friend who has become a professor. A thoroughly enjoyable occasion.

The centre of Dundee is changing but then it always has done. Suffered from municipal indecision and/or planning experimentation. It now seems more settled and the V&A are creating an outpost down at the riverside. It will make such a difference.

The bronze statues of cartoon characters born in Dundee are wonderful. Minnie the Minx stands behind Desperate Dan. She is ready for mischief and knows no fear.
