The Tacky-fication of Princes Street

A view of the world-renowned Scott Monument, erected following the author's death in 1832.   Oh, wait a minute, you can only catch a glimpse due to a fun-fair attraction.

Edinburgh's New Town was begun in the late 18th century, and is regarded as a masterpiece of architecture - recognised as such when it was created a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995.

The last 20 or so years has seen a decline in the standard of the shops on the street, and there has been a number of highly controversial planning permissions granted.

What a modern Ferris Wheel contributes to the elegance of Princes Street I have no idea.
