A famous house.

This is Arnside's best known house. It was built over 200 years ago. It has an idyllic position. Those lawns run down to the Estuary and the views are of the Lake District National Park. It is just a few minutes level walk from the Promenade shops.

Press reports say that it will probably be put up for sale soon. It is owned by a local Housing Society and provides very well appointed apartments for elderly people. They all have kitchens but meals can be provided if you wish.

And yet surprisingly only four of the eleven apartments are occupied. On this basis it is not viable. The Society states that proceeds from a sale would be used to provide a different style of housing for elderly people in the village.

Its a puzzle.
