Mosque and hotel

I like the mix of styles and what they may represent.

If I knew how to load additional photos, last night's photo of the Central Bank with flashing neon lights contrasted with the whiteness of the Grand Mosque would make another fine example.

Friday, which means the weekend, midday prayers and very few on the streets when I went for a walk at 10am. It was only 39 degrees and I needed to walk in sunshine and daylight, as well as get a coffee before work. I couldn't find the coffee shop I thought was near me, but being Kuwait I found a mall, just for me I think as I was the only customer! Coffee drunk, I walked home, apartment scouting although I'm not sure it's where I want to be and then went to work.

English testing today. Similar but different procedures and processes. New nationalities and accents etc to understand including Lebanese Armenians, someone from Bhutan, and Palestinians and Syrians with Jordanian residency living in Kuwait.

I walked home in the evening which is when I took my photo, stopping off at M&S but they didn't have the shirt I'd seen in another shop.

I treated myself to Chinese in the local Holiday Inn, not wanting to sit in my shoebox apartment. Duck on the menu. Yum! Although I had to ask the staff to let me eat and not all of them constantly ask if it was ok. Foreigners are good customers.

Sad news out of Egypt today: tourists shot in Hurghada, local police shot in another incident and local churches ceasing many activities due to a terror threat. That just adds to the 20% electricity price increase and the recent petrol price hike and rents going up. I'm glad I don't have to deal with this, glad people will worry less about me, and concerned how the average, local Egyptian will cope.
