fledgling..

I tried to rescue a fledgling who was hopping across a busy road. Hazard lights flashing , car abandoned, mother bird scolding, I finally got hold of it and placed it in some hedging. Car moved to a safer place, I went back to see how it was getting on.. It had been smushed in the middle of the road. Drove to work, late and sad :(
