Until it started to rain, when they all disappeared to the first floor.
In terms of first half performance if we had swapped goalkeepers before the game started we would have been 4-1 up at half time. Some things never change in between some tremendous attempts at goal Isma managed to ‘balloon’ (I think that’s the correct term) a penalty over the bar. Walker took his goal as you expect but his reaction was that of someone who would rather be anywhere else. Cole Stockton looks quite useful, when Premiership defenders bounce off him and find marking him difficult you hope he can bring that to a lesser standard of defenders. The three at the back were undone with a neat through pass in three minutes, apart for that they looked pretty solid. The wing backs again looked a bit put out when against that quality but they stuck to their task manfully.
Not much to say about the second half other than a first sighting of our new wunderkid (not putting any undue pressure on him or anything) Harry Cochrane tall, slight, good quick feet and a certain look about him that belies his 16 and a bit years. There were too many substitutions to make any sense of the footie on view.
Now to the downside. It is no coincidence that there are only two squad numbers not allocated are Nos 1 & 11 Jack Hamilton is, at present a liability poor at cross balls and when a shot is fired at him he has an unerring habit of parrying the thing back into the danger zone. It looks very likely we will have to get a replacement for Jamie Walker.
Anyhoo that’s me off Jambo watch until 9th September, assuming the new stand gets finished for the arrival of Aberdeen.
