Pile O' Wood
Today I got a lovely visit with Megan. We went to the University to check out the gallery I will show in next month, it was good to have her suggestions. Afterward we went to eat some Mexican food. The lunch special, which is all-you-can-eat (such an American thing) was great. But honestly, who eats more than one burrito? Especially when there are chips, salsa, rice and beans as well?
Also got my laundry done which makes me very happy.
This year for me is all about letting go and "using up". I've carried this pile of wood through 3 moves. You might say, "looks like you should put it in the burn pile". Not me, I see little tote boxes, benches, and little shelf units. I've set up my woodworking "factory" and I'm usually covered in sawdust from morning to night. Most of this wood is from houses in Texas that were at least 60-80 years old. I feel like this wood that survived the little houses being torn down to build big McMansions should be treated with love and respect. There you go. That's my life today. If I'm not making art, I'm making some wooden thing.
