Ocean Free Sailing to Green Island

I saved my best boat trip for last!!! I've had such a wonderful day today with a small group of people on a 63 foot schooner sailing out to Pinnacle Reef and Green Island. The owner of the business was our skipper and the attention to detail was truly magnificent. 21 visitors looked after by 4 crew who ensured we all had such an enjoyable day. We were welcomed aboard with Danish pastries and fruit; lunch was a smorgasbord of meats, seafood and salads; on our homeward trip we had cheese & crackers, a glass of wine and then cake to top it all off!!! No need for dinner tonight!

At the reef we had a fantastic guided tour of the coral reef and its inhabitants led by one of the crew who showed us a wonderful variety of reef dwellers and imparted so much information as he did it. Even better, he helped me with my snorkelling so I had great one-on-one attention. Again, I can't share what I saw but can at least share some photos from the boat and from Green Island. A couple of the group did a guided scuba dive.

After hearing so often about damage and degradation to the reef it was really good to see it looking pretty healthy and colourful here.

The main is the Ocean Free boat we sailed in taken from Green Island where we spent a little time exploring. The first extra is also from the island and the second extra is from the boat as we approached Cairns again at the end of our day.

If anyone is thinking of visiting Cairns and the reef and values the journey as much as the destination I would thoroughly recommend Ocean Free Sailing. I'm already planning to come back and sail with them again! Today has been just like the pure joy of my sailing days again.
