West Coast raindrops
Watering is a big job on this Island and for anyone living in the Southern Gulf Islands generally. It is very dry just now. No rain for 4-5 weeks and no rain in sight. A microclimate that is Mediterranean. Really! So P and I water our garden by hand with dozens of watering cans full of water harvested from our ponds and a couple of large tanks that we fill with run off in the winter. Water is a very precious resource. We are all on wells from uncertain aquifers. Life on a small Island. It is lovely and it brings its own challenges and therefore rhythm to the days and seasons. So here we are creating the rain that we need but won't get. A beautiful tangle of flowering peas. For the challenge this week.
