Mary Amelia
I walked along the river wall from Melton to Woodbridge with my friend this afternoon. The tide was out with just a trickle of water in the centre channel but lots of Swans and other water birds were enjoying the rich pickings from the mud. When we reached Woodbridge we enjoyed a cup of tea and a cheese scone at the Whistlestop Café and then retraced our steps back to Melton. The tide had turned by then and the river was beginning to fill up, on rounding a bend in the river we saw this Thames Barge, The Mary Amelia coming towards us. Not enough wind for her to use the lovely reddish brown sails but a wonderful sight nevertheless.
