The Tuscan landscape
A day of travels to another hotel, leaving Pescia and Florence and Pisa behind in Tuscany and moving onwards towards Umbria where we had our hotel booked along the East coastline of the Trasimeno Lake. Not far away from Assissi and Perugia and Chiusi and smaller pearls on the string of Umbria.
Getting there we made a stopover in San Gimignano, a small citadell on top of a hill, as so many citadells are placed there on top of a hill ! San Gimignano is world famous for its skyline with 12 towers dating back to the Middle Ages when this city was built... a place you should visit when in the region !
We were one couple amongst the many couples of tourists in this city, but the number of tourists was more pleasing than in Florence, simply because the drive up this citadell on the hill isn't very easy... some miles of wild winding and climbing country side roads ~ roaming the main streets of Gimignano I met a BN-er (a famous Dutch citizen)... Mike Bodée, an excellent pianist; we exchanged some words about the city's beauty and the warm weather and spoke Dutch, what was the first time for me this week.
