Clifton Gorge Nature Preserve

Sunday
Tempting though it was to stay in this morning and watch the men's finals from Wimbledon, we decided we would watch it later, and instead got out to church, then came home, packed up a picnic and drove up to John Bryan State Park, near Yellow Springs, to get the most out of another sunny summers day. As we were just starting our picnic, another car pulled into the car park next to our car, and a family got out and started walking to a nearby picnic table - it turned out to be one of Roger's colleagues from work! Neither knew the other was going, and it's about an hour's drive north from home - so it's a small world! Having had our picnic, we set off for a hike along the Little Miami River which flows through the park and the adjacent Clifton Gorge Nature Preserve. The river shows several different moods along the trail, with this relatively wide and gentle section in stark contrast to the "Narrows" upstream from my blip, where the river is forced between dark rock faces just a short distance apart.
We watched the men's finals in the evening after dinner. So thrilled to see Roger Federer win his 8th trophy, but had expected it to be more of a battle - it was so sad to see Cilic struggling so desperately.
