Grand Via Die Parco
This view is taken from high in the Monte Sibillini Mountains from the Grand Via of the National Park.
We had a muggy and cloudy day yesterday with rain in the night. Today has been more autumnal and cooler but the mountain tops were clear and crisp, so after breakfast in a cafe in Sarnarno and a quick look around the market we headed up into the mountains.
The road was very twisty up to the visible ski resort where the views were fantastic but as is usual with these places when they are closed it looked pretty tatty. Heading down the other side we came across a shepherd with herds of long haired and long tailed sheep complete with bells around their necks. He had about 5 white dogs helping him herd the sheep. We also saw our first cows out in the open - again with cow bells.
On our descent this was our view down into Bolognola a little tourist town and we continued down to St Lorenzo de Lago where we got Italian sausage sandwiches to eat at picnic tables by the amazingly blue lake. We shared them with a very appreciative tabby cat!
Back in Amandola now at the Gelateria - nut and Tiramisu ice cream today.
On our last visit we couldn't get onto the internet so I am back blipping the last few days if you care to look.
Back blips start here: Le Marche
