Chasing Butterflies

I read an article about the Yorkshire Wild Life Trusts reserve at Wharram Quarry. As today was the last day of forecast sunshine decided to have a trip on to the Wolds.

We discovered that we have walked past the entrance without seeing the sign. This old quarry proved to be a haven for lots of butterflies. However it was a little breezy today and few were settling. The ones that did were the older more tattered butterflies. Patience was required and eventually this fine Marbled White decided to pose.

Thanks to Orchid99 for encouraging me to sign up for the Big Butterfly Count and search out this fine specimen.
