Where the Light Gets In

Gurvand has been the owner of the creperie in Penn Ar Pont for more than five years now and his restaurant is always full, especially in the summer. His are the best crêpes we have eaten in a 50 km radius (or more). He has now added an outside seating space, where we ate for the first time last night (Tuesday).

The last two lines of my haiku are a translation of what is written on the slate in the upper left corner. Another one says "You are allowed to lick your plate clean, but not your neighbour's". :-)

I had stopped in the morning to make a reservation and noticed he had a new ramp installed (for wheelchairs and more generally for people with disabilities, as you have to go up stairs to get inside the crêperie). It's wooden, and very well done I thought. So I asked who had done it for him, as I will soon need to have quotes on the work needed to fit my office. He gave me the guy's business card - as it is, he was the person the mayoress of our village had told me about on Monday. Incidentally, said mayoress was eating in the crêperie with her husband last night, too, so we talked a few minutes more. :-)

The last good news of the day: Sherlock, who had been AWOL since Saturday evening, made his comeback. :-) We were really getting worried, as he never goes away for this long. We think he might have been locked somewhere. As he came back, he went directly to his bowl and ate as if he hadn't for days - which might be what actually happened. Needless to say we were really, really happy. We had to leave the door open because Sookie wasn't back yet (we really should install a cat flap, I know), and we feared Sherlock might go and wander off again, but he didn't venture too far. Finally, Julie got up in the wee hours, hearing that both cats were in, and closed the door. They won't get out today: we need them both present and accounted for tomorrow morning: they'll go into their travel cases and we'll drive them to Julie's Dad's where they'll be staying for a few days while we attend a wedding in the South-West of France - where I'll act as "official" photographer. :-)
