Hoverfly.

An annoying day!  We have ordered a new mattress for one of the beds at the lodge.  The website said next day delivery, Ordered Monday so we would get it Tuesday. Wrong!  Wednesday was the day they would deliver.  Then it got worse delivery would be between 9:00 and 6:00.  The driver would ring about an hour before he was due to arrive.  Fine we can set off for the Lodge when he rings.  Wrong again they couldn't guarantee he would ring.

So one of us had to spend the day (we worked shifts) from 9:00 until 8:00.  The observant among you will notice that 8:00 is 2 hours later than the proposed last delivery.  If you dig in the small print of the T & Cs it says between 8:00 and 8:00.  It still hasn't arrived!

While out at the Lodge I was looking at some Meadow Sweet when I spotted this Hoverfly.  It appears to be a male (the large eyes joined in the centre) of Epistrophe grossulariae.  A widely distributed but never numerous UK species.
