the bollard.  

He's about a meter tall.   His nose is a shaped iron block to allow a lanyard loop to slip over but stop it slipping up, his eyes and ears are bolts holding his head together. 
There are cast metal bollards for the big ships, and for the charter boats there a dozen or so friendly wooden ones like this..

Of course he has man-flu hanging around on a jetty in this weather...
