Conker Challenge..

Well it is that time of year again ..
I just love the promise of a conker tree and all the possible uses they can have ..
We used to live in Germany close to the Haribo factory and at this time of the year everyone would collect the conkers in sacks and on a specific day you could take them to the factory and exchange them in proportion for Haribo sweets..Mr Haribo would save them to use as animal feed through the winter ..A lovely idea me thinks ..
As a boat owner a few people had told us that conkers kept spiders off your boat-I was sceptical but it does work and so I am tryin it at home too now..
Lastly has to be playing conkers..is it still allowed in schools? I would think health and safety would dissaprove!I remember trying to get a winning conker and how did you get that. Was soaking it or baking it really cheating or just using your tricks?
On a simple basis I love the shiny shell of a conker and their shapes when you find them or pull them out of their shell..
Todays shot was taken on the way back to school tonight to pick up Son doing drama..thankfully it was not getting dark but I got some looks crouching on the grass on the lawns close to the local Commune ( town hall)!!
