Defeat out of the jaws of victory

Minutes from the end of the match i started to look forward to telling you all how great it was to watch my team (Newport RFC) win against local rivals Bedwas. But thats now not the case.

After 10 mins we were down to 14 men, i think he was lucky not to get a red, after 30 mins we got the red we were obviously trying for. So for about an hour of the 80 we played with 14 men. But it was only after the red we started to put some moves together and looked like we meant business. Just before half time we scored a try to go into the lead.

The boys worked hard, holding back Bedwas, but then we started to creak. We kept the lead until the last minute, and then it happened, Bedwas scored in the corner but still needed the conversion to go in front. A very difficult kick awaited them. The Bedwas kicker held his nerve and kicked it between the posts, i was gutted.

After the match it was sad to see our scrum half storm off obviously p****d off with the result, but it was great to see some one passionate about it. I hope he doesnt get to fed up as he is one of our star players and we need him motivated.
