State of emergency

Much of the South Island of NZ is under a state of emergency this weekend as rain continues to bucket down . Christchurch has two rivers and one (the Ōpāwaho-Heathcote River) has burst its banks and flooded many homes.

We are lucky because our suburb is built high and is not near a major water source.  It is near a creek that feeds into the Heathcote eventually. That creek is usually pretty dry. We walked shown there just as the light was fading to see what it was like.
