I've been aware of there being something in the space between the road between Portobello and Musselburgh and Newhailes Road and the don't-often-bother-with-it-as-it-gets-a-bit-muddy Brunstane Burn path but have never investigated inside it, so it is pleasing to find it mostly full of child-friendly (apart from all the dogs and the inevitable shite) paths, paths underneath trees, trees, large areas of grass and molehills, which the wingpiglet seemed particularly keen on rearranging. I might investigate the potential route to it from the Gilberstoun-Newhailes path at some point. After popping for a walk, some soup and a cake and then a play with the molehills we left the boy in the care of his grandparents whilst we took the bus into town for a trip to the cinema (the much-missed Cameo, for Lawless, wherein I learnt that the mysterious Tom Hardy from Batman Retires is more properly known as The English Bloke from Inception) and a tasty mosque-meal, returning via a random first-one-that-turned-up bus to Newhaven followed by a quick shop and a nice wander back home just in time to not disrupt the shutdown process.
