High on a hill....
....was a lovely berghaus. 6500 feet up above the Gasterntal valley to be precise.
A surprisingly tough day of trekking; the beautiful sun was our friend and enemy - amazing views, but some slightly over-cooked Scouts too. Light Scottish skin was exposed to the higher altitude UV in some cases despite constant reminders to cover-up or slap-on the lotion. The final stage ascent of 1000 feet of fairly straight-up terrain tells you all you need to know about the slog to the top. Spirits were consderably lifted as we arrived and found Alan The Hut Warden waiting to induct us to our accommodation.
