Down in South East London, in the area that is Dicken's London...not far from the infamous Marshalsea, one wall of which still stands; there is the Crossbones Graveyard.
In medieval times, through Shakespeare's time and beyond, this unconsecrated ground was where dead prostitutes were literally dumped. In later years it became a paupers graveyard.
Oh what tales they could all tell if only they could.

Many times in recent years developers have tried to take over this piece of land but opposition is very strong. Local groups have defended it and created a shrine of sorts.
Long may their defence continue successfully.
