everlastings..

...or paper flowers are blooming all over!
The colours are gorgeous, ranging from white through pinks to a magenta red and these are in a flower bed near the local Learning Centre. When I was 'head down bum up' taking some pics, the carer of this little patch arrived telling me that this is their third year and after a spindly start, with each season they are growing stronger and self seeding.

The papery petals are bracts or modified leaves while the actual flowers (florets) are in the central yellow disc.
