Red Arrows
M & I went to the Holkham Country Fair today, unfortunately G had a migraine. I was talking to the lady in the greengrocers yesterday and she said it always rains for the HCF and boy was she right! We knew the Red Arrows were on at 5:40 so we decided not to arrive until about 2, but the rain chucked it down shortly after arriving and for the next 2 hours. What a shame for them, people were leaving in droves. Then unexpectedly the rain stopped and the sun came out and it was glorious. It was the first time I'd seen the Red Arrows live and it was amazing, simply breathtaking. Difficult to know what lens to use, but I went with my shorter lens to get all 8 in plus vapour trails (1 had a technical fault and couldn't make it). I've included an extra of the full team. I also enjoyed watching the Cossack riding display.
Having seen the Red Arrows flying in Hawk aircraft capable of speeds up to Mach 1.2, we went from the sublime to the ridiculous. It's 2.6 miles from Holkham Hall to Wells Next The Sea and it took us 1 hours 45 mins to cover it - constantly being overtaken by pedestrians - AND we must have been in the first 10% of cars to leave!. People were leaving the country show and others arriving for the Tom Jones concert at the same time. Unfortunately some of those arriving were using the wrong entrance and also there was a car accident on the road from Fakenham that left roads gridlocked.
