Year of mourning
King Bhumibol Adulyadej was Thailand’s longest reigning monarch and his death has caused genuine sadness and upset among his people. The country is currently observing a year of mourning.
All over the city there are memorials big and small. Many Thai people wear black each day and those who don't, wear a black ribbon on their sleeve. In the cinema on Saturday we were asked to stand up for a minutes silence before the movie started. This will continue until October when the year of mourning comes to an end.
