Puffins!

The weather has improved and a trip to the tiny island of Staffa was possible.
This island was made famous in Victorian times due to the craze for all things wild, Scottish or tartan. Queen Victoria was rowed into Fingall's Cave in Staffa, which must have required a very experienced oarsman. Even on our calm day, the swell made the seas around the cave entrance rather treacherous.

Having seen the hexagonal basalt columns that form Fingall's cave on my previous visit, I headed to the grassy banks above the cliffs that house puffin burrows.

There was a large flock of puffins on the sea close to the cliffs, but during daylight they don't dare to return to the burrows. Once humans scare away and distract the sea gulls, the puffins fly right up to where we were lounging on the grass.
What a wonderful experience.
