A step closer!

Left the house at 6:30am and got to my parents Bungalow at Mablethorpe at 10am.

We opened some windows and then went to see Dad.  At 11am we had an appointment with his social worker. I have to say she was a very nice lady and nothing like what I had been warned about!!  She agreed that dad needs full time residential care.  We discussed some small financial matters and she agreed that on the face of it, Dad would get funding.  We now need to wait for the assessment form to be posted to us so that we can complete with all dads financial information and then we wait but at least she sounded confident and was happy to recommend full time residential care.  We still have to pay the care home fees until all paperwork is completed, however I will then be able to claim back what we have paid as of today once it has all gone through.  They have a two week turnaround in theory...I have also been told by the care home think 8 weeks and we may have a more realistic idea!

We also got Mum registered with a local GP...she hadn't formally registered when they moved!!  ID was a bit tricky as everything is in dads name and her driving license was registered in her old address.  thankfully the surgery accepted DVLAs email confirmation that I had requested her license to be changed into the correct address.

We then went back to the bungalow to find some more paperwork.  We then both worked for a while before deciding to go have fish and chips!  We sat on the beach for a while which was lovely.

Then on to Grimsby to see Mum.  Mum arrived just as we did,  She had her PET scan today.  So now we wait more.  We did have a small drama!  She has a pink cuddly dog that my sister gave her and he has gone missing...Mum had a bit of a melt down....managed to find a cuddly toy for her at the shop and now my sister is searching the internet for a Pink Beanie Baby Poodle cuddly toy!!

Currently in car (thank god for mobile phones and data roaming!) on way home.  Should be home about 9pm.

Shattered!
