Elongated Portable Holes

Since the new irrigation scheme has got underway a common sight on the roads is the movement of polythene pipes. They range from about 30 cms to about 4 metres in diameter. This lot I shot through the windscreen were in the medium range. They were forty or fifty metres long. The front unit had three slimmer pipes than the single one closer to me. They had to negotiate a narrow right angle corner, which took a lot of manoeuvring.

I’m glad it was decided to pipe the water. For 8 years of the planning stage they talked about canals, including a 25 metre one next to my house, with a five metre embankment that would have blocked most of my sunshine, let alone my view of the mountains.
