Thistledown

For thistles to spread (though we think them a weed)
Their flowers must turn to thistledown, going to seed.

For thistles to spread (across a clear sky)
The wind must pick up to make thistledown fly.

*     *     *     *     *

You'll never hear thistledown
however hard you listen,
but in the sun you'll see for sure
how thistledown will glisten.
