Watts Gallery

A few of the art class decided to go on a trip to Watts Gallery near Guildford to celebrate the end of term. We took the tour, which was very interesting. Watts was a very popular and very prolific artist, who also did sculpture and murals. This year is the bicentennary of his birth and a major exhibition has been put together with his paintings brought together from around the world. He gave away masses of paintings - very philanthropic!
His personal life was less successful. He married twice, both times to women over 30 years younger than him. The first marriage (to a 17 year old) lasted less than a year.
Well worth a visit.
