Finished reading my book club novel in good time for Friday evening - just need to retain the details in my hopeless memory for a few days until we discuss it.

Mum and I decided to give The Swan one last chance and have lunch there. They seemed to try a bit harder again today, so they have a reprieve (until the next time their lack of provisions forces me to settle for my third choice off the menu). After our meal we had a wander around the nearby Wyevale garden centre. Their plant stock sometimes looks a bit neglected, but their dahlias were in splendidly perfect condition.

I spent a satisfying hour and a half wielding the shears and chopping at the extensive new growth on some of the shrubs and bushes in the garden.
