If ..

I was asked to name my favourite native bird the Kereru (native pigeon) would likely be top of the list.  They are such a beautiful majestic. There have been several around in the past few days I noticed this one at the top of the old kowhai tree early this morning but was unable to get a shot of him. Surprisingly he stayed there most of the morning and came out just far enough for me to get this shot just before he flew off.  While it's lovely seeing so many birds in the garden presently, and very quickly eating everything we put out for them it also indicates their natural food source in the forest is quite depleted at present.
