Weddings and babies don't mix
Have been in a foul mood today. Audrey woke several times in night and as my husband and got back late from London, I did all the wake ups and got up with her first thing. Felt like the walking dead today.
Had Lisa and Wes's wedding in Cheshire to go to but no amount of make-up saved my tired face. It was a wonderful wedding all the same. They are such a gorgeous, social, outgoing pair. And their families and friends looked to be having a blast. They even had Ryan from Coronation Street as a wedding singer which was a nice surprise!
Caught this pic of the pair pf them in the garden having a sneaky kiss, loved it!
We were late, stressed and harassed though. We were so terrified that Audrey would cry in the church so we were on pins permanently. Then we struggled to find somewhere at the reception to feed her quietly. As a result she got more and more unsettled and it just got worse and worse.
In the end we decided to make a dash for it after desserts and before the speeches.
I have distant memories of other harassed looking new parents at the weddings I've been to over the years. You see their tired, pinched faces pretending to smile through gritted teeth all the while surrounded by changing bags, prams and baby paraphernalia.
Truth is it's really hard. Small talk with strangers seems ten times harder and it takes forever to get across a room with a pram, "Excuse me", "Sorry", "Errr could we just squeeze through" etc. etc.
It's official. Weddings and babies don't work. Am off to bed in a huff.
