Six Spotted Burnet Moths
Whilst I was put on the dunes this morning with Zoe I noticed there was quite a bit of insect interest in these yellow daisy like flowers. Initially I spotted the bees but then I came across these two six spotted burnet moths. Usually these moths are predominantly found on one of my favourite wild flowers, the Viper's Bugloss. However, I have noticed that there seems a dearth of viper's bugloss in the dunes this year and those that are growing look pretty scraggly so it is no wonder that the burnet moths have gone in search of more fertile habitat.
