Nobels Fredssenter

It has been another long day.

More touroid stuff.

It started with a walk up Oslo’s “main street” - Karl Johans gate - to Slottet (the Royal Palace). Both are impressive. I was at the palace for the guard changing - purely by accident. A lucky break.

Then it was the metro (no, not another ferry) to the Holmenkollen ski centre. I had planned to go up to the top of the ski jump tower, but the 50 minute queue killed off that idea. I did visit the ski museum, the cafe and the ski jump spectator area. Ski jumpers must be 100% crazy. 

Part of the fun of that wee trip was the metro climbing up through the city’s suburbs from sea level to almost 300m (1,000 ft).

Back down to sea level after that to wander around the Nobels Fredssenter (Nobel Peace Centre). One of the exhibitions on at the moment is about Syria and its refugees. A real tear jerker. I spent some Nkr in the gift shop. A rare event for me.

The Blip is from the Nobels Fredssenter. John Hume was a joint winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1998. One of the extras is the guard changing at the Slottet. The other is my dinner spot. The pad Thai was delicious, and it was lovely to eat it outside in the street.

I'm going home tomorrow. That's a pity. I love it here.
