Bin-tech!

New bins in Glasgow's George Square.

I was talking to the head bloke in the cleansing dept. He was beside himself with joy describing these new bins.

Essentially the cover you see hides a 240L wheelie bin, typical of those you might have outside your home. They replace 40L small bins. This means large items like pizza boxes (common in the city centre) would normally be thrown into the bin and immediately fill it as they would get stuck at an angle. Now they drop directly to the bottom making space for other waste. You also need to empty the new ones less. Success I'd say and a good idea!

Weather: cloudy with blue skies and rain at times; 17 degrees c; rain jacket weather; mixed day and bright in the evening.
