Whaam Blip!
Went off buying reading list books for G this morning - we found some wonderful books. However, I forgot to take my camera and the exposure button on my phone camera is playing up. With rain this evening, I am stuck with an indoor blip.
Guess who one of the books was about? Yes, Roy Lichtenstein.
This is a parody of his Whaam picture of 1963, but where he used paint, I have used a collection of photos and a bit of Photoshop artistic licence.
The aircraft is an F-86 Sabre (same as the original, which we just happened to have a scale model of, would you believe!). The missile exhaust is the reflections of light on a fountain pen, the explosions are a mish mash of a photo of a painting mat of Emma's. The background is a blurred and watercolour effect added to the grey plastic cover of a tax return envelope!
I think painting the original was probably easier:)
The original, by the way can be seen at Tate Modern in London.
