Toppled

Just cruising around the Park this arvo, and pulled up short when I saw this.  It's fallen over sometime in the last 24 hours, because it certainly hadn't fallen when I drove down the Valley Road yesterday.

It's a giant of a tree, and highlights just how dangerous these great gums can be.  They are relatively shallow rooted, and it's likely that the recent heavy rains (softening the ground) coupled with some strong winds late  night were enough to knock it over.
